From his early days as a pianist in the local church, the call to lead God’s people through music has been clearly spoken over the life of Carl Cartee. After helping to plant a church during college, the opportunities to lead worship came more and more frequent and a worship ministry started to emerge. Around this same time Carl met and married Heather. With a guitar and a prayer the two launched their mission to build a family and a ministry together. “I love worship leaders and those called to use music to point people to Jesus. I have been around musicians all my life and knew that the chance to influence them for the Kingdom was a big part of our calling.” Knowing that great need always presents great opportunity, Carl and Heather founded the Summer Worship Experience, a mentoring program for young worship leaders, and began developing a multifaceted ministry of music, writing and mentoring.
Moving to Nashville, TN in 2003, Carl played a major role in developing the songs for the popular Spring Hill Worship series. Carl serves as Artist In Residence at Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, TN along with three others (Ronnie Freeman, Jason Ingram and Christy Nockels) who make up the worship leading team within the church. He is a staff writer for Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing/Universal Music, a record producer and recording artist, owner of Mighty Oak Records and founder of the Inspire Worship Conference. Heather runs her own home-based business, travels full time with Carl and is an UberMom. The Cartee’s have been married for 10 years and have two sons, Oak (3), Ezra (1) and Baby Abe.
